Job Overview


Urbane Systems is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented System Administrator to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective installation, configuration, and maintenance of our systems and servers, ensuring optimum performance and security. The System Administrator will manage the organization’s IT infrastructure, providing support to staff and resolving any technical issues that arise. This role is vital for maintaining operational efficiency and driving the continuous improvement of IT systems to meet the evolving needs of the company.



Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner related to hardware, software, and networks.
  • Ensure the integrity and security of computer systems and data.
  • Implement system upgrades and software updates as necessary.
  • Administer user accounts and permissions, ensuring proper access controls are in place.
  • Perform routine system backups and recovery operations.
  • Document system configurations, procedures and maintain an up-to-date inventory of all equipment.
  • Develop and implement IT policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to streamline processes and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users as needed.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a System Administrator or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of computer networks, server management, and cloud computing.
  • Proficiency in Linux and Windows Server administration.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Knowledge of security principles and practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) are a plus.

Technologies & Tools


The System Administrator will work with a variety of technologies and tools essential for maintaining the company's IT operations. This includes, but is not limited to, operating systems such as Windows Server and Linux, virtualization platforms like VMware and Hyper-V, monitoring tools such as Nagios or Zabbix, and database management systems like SQL Server and MySQL. Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) will also be advantageous.
